Cooling system for a nuclear reactor prestressed concrete vessel which is lined with an inner skin shell (liner) and an insulating layer, and is provided with cooling pipes through which a cooling fluid (fluid coolant) flows and which are arranged on the prestressed concrete vessel. The cooling pipes are arranged next to one another and are combined to form a plurality of regions which can be switched independently of one another. The cooling pipes are fed with the cooling fluid by distributors and manifolds which can be switched independently of one another, and the flow of flowing medium through mutually adjacent tubes is respectively in the opposite direction.
