A device for regulating (controlling) the temperature of a heating boiler is proposed, in the case of which regulation is carried out continuously. The regulating device comprises a PI regulator in parallel with which a comparator is connected. The PI regulator is switched off during the heating-up phase. On reaching a temperature which is close to the set required value, the comparator switches over and the PI regulator takes over the regulation. This avoids a transient behaviour, with the PI regulator overshooting, in conjunction with the control path. <IMAGE>
