and " chi " represents a tertiary butyl radical can be prepared by reacting a propionic acid chlorid of the formula

with the corresponding nitroalkanols of the formula


These esters stabilize organic material as polyolefines normally subject to oxidative deterioration and can be a component of a stabilizer composition, the other component being a dialkyl thiodipropionate.
