A process for purifying waste water, in particular domestic waste water, is described in which the waste water is largely freed from entrained solids by mechanical discharge of the same and directly after, dispensing with the use of a settling tank, the waste water, together with the sinkable solids still contained therein, is passed into a first biological purification stage acting by the trickling filter or contact aeration process. In a second downstream biological purification stage, the waste water is treated in a simultaneous pond, in which an aeration of the waste water takes place in the region of the air incorporation in turbulent circulation flow, and settling of the sinkable solids proceeds in an area having laminar flow outside the air incorporation. The solids having dimensions of 1 mm to 3 mm, separated from the waste water by a fine screen or fine sieve, are transferred directly to the simultaneous pond so that no digestion tower is required.
|
