The invention relates to a motorised cutting-thread lawn edge cutter which can be adjusted optionally for vertical cutting or horizontal cutting. This is a further development of the cutting-thread horizontal cutter to the universal device because in practice a great deal has to be cut vertically. Especially for cutting the lawn edges, trimmed vertically for the sake of simplicity, on multiform beds and tree beds with round corners and tight curves. This genuine vertical cutter, guided safely and rapidly by special stops bearing slidingly against the lawn edge, and cutting through accurately even in tight curves, produces high performance and is intended to fill a gap in the market. Special details are unsymmetrical U-bow with operating handle, mounted on extended motor shaft bearings, pivotable left/right parallel to the cutting plane and continuously fixable. The handle foot mounting on the U-bow is pivotable and continuously fixable in such a manner that, for horizontal cutting, the handle can be set vertically or at an angle to the cutting plane. Guide stops, on the motor slide plate, can be folded out of the horizontal cutting region or swivelled out laterally. The handle grip has two switches favourably situated for both use possibilities.
