摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce loss and to improve strength by covering an optical fiber connection part with a reinforcing member with has a large modulus of longitudinal elasticity and a coefficient of expansion close to that of optical fiber wire and further covering with a heat-shrinkable member. CONSTITUTION:The connection end surfaces of pieces of optical fiber wire 4 are butted against each other and connected by melt-sticking, and part of those pieces of optical fiber wire 4 and the sheathing layers 3 of optical fiber cores 2 is covered with a hot-melt adhesive 5 made of a graft modified material of an ethylene-ethylacrylate copolymer; and the circumference is wound with a reinforcing member 6 obtained by forming polyethylene terephthalate, plasma-treated at low temperature by using oxygen, into a tape, and this reinforcing member 6 is covered with a heat-shrinkable member 1 formed of polyethylene in a tube before a heat treatment.
