The method is for monitoring a machine such as a press where there are operators in one or more stations, and a strip of material indexed through it, and detects faulty operation in time to prevent damage and remove faulty products. Movement of the strip is detected immediately before the inlet to the machine by a rotary component acting directly against it. Strip movements during a workng cycle are compared w1th a reference value, the machne beng stopped where the discrepancy exceeds a threshold value. |
