PURPOSE:To extend the life of an ignitor for a liquid fuel combustor without overheating by enabling the ignition at a low temperature with an oxide catalyst of a platinum group metal mounted at the tip of a ceramics heater having a heat generating resistance body buried in the ceramics thereof. CONSTITUTION:For example, in a pot type petroleum combustor, a ceramic heater C is supported with a holder H on the side wall of a combustion pot P and a built-in heat generating resistor is energized with a lead wire L. A filament body S is mounted on the outer surface of the ceramic heater C. This, made of a platinum group metal such as platinum acts as oxide catalyst. A fuel sucked with a suction wick F is vaporized by heat and ignited with the action of the filament body S as oxide catalyst. This enables the ignition at a low temperature of 500-550 deg.C thereby ensuring a longer life as compared with the conventional one whose heater suffers frequent deteriorations due to heating of the heater close to 1,000 deg.C because a liquid fuel is ignited only such a high temperature as 850-950 deg.C. |
