PURPOSE:To reduce the dirtying of a form, to eliminate the need for preheating, and to achieve fixation with high energy efficiency, by allowing a beam of infrared rays to scan over toner to be fixed. CONSTITUTION:Infrared-ray laser light emitted by an infrared-ray laser 13 is passed through an infrared-ray coupling lens 14 to obtain a nearly parallel beam. A polygon mirror 15 for infrared rays shares one rotating shaft with the polygon mirror for exposure of a photosensitive drum 6 and rotates together. Consequently, the infrared-ray beam changed in direction is condensed on a form 12 at a point B through an infrared-ray imaging lens 16 and a reflecting mirror 17, and is also scanned. When the laser 13 is turned on and off with adequate delay in timing behind a semiconductor laser 1, only a toner part on the form is irradiated with infrared rays to perform fixation. Further, infrared rays may be scanned sucessively without turning on and off the infrared-ray laser 13. |
