This application is directed to improving the adherence properties of aromatic polyamide fibers. The fibers are drawn via one or more capillary entrances and outlets through an area in which a reduced pressure is maintained. A plasma is generated in the area by means of a high frequency field caused by a solenoid placed around the area. These resultant fibers are useful in the manufacture of construction materials.
