PURPOSE:To provide the title recording medium enhanced in the contrast of an image part and a non-image part and rewriting resistance and capable of keeping an initial transparentizing temp. range. CONSTITUTION:In a rewritable thermal recording medium wherein a recording layer 2 based on a resin matrix and the org. low-molecular substance dispersed in the resin matrix and reversibly changed in its transparency in dependence on temp. is provided on a support 1, the resin matrix is constituted of a thermosetting resin consisting of a hydroxyl modified vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer and an isocyanate compound. Since this thermosetting resin is more excellent in heat resistance and mechanical strength as compared with a conventional resin matrix and also excellent in the adhesiveness to the support 1, it has good rewriting resistance and requires no protective layer and, therefore, there is no passibility such that a monomer or org. solvent for the resin penetrates in the recording layer and the dispersed state of the org. low- molecular substance in the recording layer can be held to an initial state. |
