<p>Circulating oil used for removal of sulphur in sour gas wells is contacted with an aqueous solution of a lower polysulphide of an alkali metal or ammonia to form a higher polysulphide of the alkali metal or ammonia, and the oil is separated from the higher polysulphide. The higher polysulphide may be converted to a lower polysulphide by precipitating part of the sulphur contained therein, and the lower polysulphide may be recycled for oil desulphurization.</p> |
