PURPOSE:To enable to increase the driving speed of a multicolor printer by arranging an ink ribbon colored with a plurality of colors in lateral division in parallel with the parallel direction of typing dots or to form a small angle, thereby enabling to reduce the width of the ink ribbon. CONSTITUTION:In an impact series dot printer in which an ink ribbon 19 which is colored with a plurality of colors in lateral direction is arranged between a typing head 20 and a sheet 11 to be printed aligned with a plurality of typing dots 21, the ribbon 19 is moved at the prescribed distance longitudinally at every typing, and the ribbon 19 is moved laterally to type desired color, the ink ribbon 19 is arranged in the direction parallel to the parallel direction of the typing dots 21 or in a direction forming a small angle. |
