PURPOSE:To make recording and reproduction of a disc easy, with a recording and reproducing medium on which a recording and reproducing magnetic surface is formed on a side surface to make a long time recording and reproduction possible, by taking a surface almost vertical to an axis of a magnetic loop formed in a core as the recording and reproducing surface. CONSTITUTION:A nonmagnetic substance (ceramic or the like) 6 for reinforcement and leakage magnetic flux prevention is bonded on one side of a core 1', and the core 1' and the nonmagnetic substance 6 have slopes 2' and 7 with opposite direction each other so that the side cross section of the tip of a magnetic head has a sharp taper. Thus, the surface 2' of the core 1' is taken as a recording and reproducing surface and a recording and reproducing gap 3' is formed on the surface 2'. In a magnetic tape 8 forming a magnetic substance layer 81 on a base tape 82 in contact with the magnetic head, a groove 9' is formed by inserting a spacer 9 so that a groove 8' of a prescribed interval can be produced in the tapes, and a high density recording and reproduction can be obtained by inserting the head to the groove 9' of the disc and turning the tape, and random access function can be provided easily. |
