The invention relates to a method for monitoring gas flows through an anaesthesia machine, with each gas being conducted from its high pressure source to the anaesthesia machine through a filter 9 and the pressures upstream and downstream of each respective filter being determined. It is now proposed that the said pressures be sampled alternately at predetermined time intervals, that the pressure values on each occasion be each fed to its own inlet in a magnetic valve 4,3 which is intended for the gas in question and which is guided by a computer 20, in accordance with a predetermined program, to alternately conduct the upstream and downstream pressures to its outlet, that the pressure values from the outlets of each respective magnetic valve be fed to a special inlet for each such outlet in a main magnetic valve 2 which is guided by the computer to connect its inlets, in a repeated sequence, to its only outlet, that the inlet to a common pressure converter 1 be fed with the series of the pressure values from the outlet of the main magnetic valve, together with the surrounding atmospheric pressure as a reference, and that the pressure converter deliver, to the computer, electrical signals which correspond to the repeated series of the pressure values which have been sampled for all the gases, which signals are processed by the computer for display, recording and alarm purposes. The invention also relates to a device for implementing the proposed method. <IMAGE> |
