PURPOSE:To increase the surface hardness of a lens body made of methacrylic resin by forming an ultraviolet curing resin layer contg. specified trimethylolpropane triacrylate and diethylene glycol dimethacrylate as principal components on the surface of the lens body. CONSTITUTION:A plastic lens body is obtd. by an injection molding method using polymethyl methacrylate PMMA. An ultraviolet curing resin soln. is prepared by adding 3pts.wt. benzoin isopropyl ether to 20pts.wt. trimethylolpropane tri(meth)acrylate represented by formulaI(where R is H or CH3, when R is H, the compound is trimethylolpropane triacrylate, and when R is CH3, the compound is trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate) and 80pts.wt. diethylene glycol dimethacrylate as principal components. The PMMA lens is dipped in the resin soln. and exposed to a high voltage mercury lamp for photopolymn. for 1min to cure the surface protective layer. The surface hardness of the cured layer is 6H pencil hardness, and by forming the protective layer, the hardness of the lens is doubled. |
