PURPOSE:To print clear characters by such an arrangement wherein a set arm and a protective plate are connected together by such an angle whereby the protective plate can be moved by the set arm, but the set arm cannot be moved by the protective plate and the set arm is used as a stopper of the protective plate. CONSTITUTION:When a carriage 11 is moved to the extreme left end, a protruded part 27 couples with a guide notch 37 and causes an open/close lever 28 to rotate clockwise. By this, a set arm 24 rotates counterclockwise, causing a protective plate 18 to rotate clockwise, and a protective surface 17 moves in the direction wherein it moves away from a platen 2 and it is not brought to contact with a roller 32 even if it passes the part of the roller 32 and the safeness of the roller 32 and the protective plate 18 is ensured. In static condition, a printing head 12 is positioned to oppose to the roller 32 and if ink droplets jetted out are supported by the surface of the roller 32 and the surface of a nozzle 13, it indicates the amount of jet is appropriate and adjustment should be made to obtain such conditions. |
