PURPOSE:To obtain a charge deflection type ink jet printer of high reliability by making the inlet part of a charging electrode to which ink flow selectively charged thereby enters narrower than other parts of the electrode. CONSTITUTION:A charging electrode 22 is in such a shape that its inlet pant to which ink column 20 enters is formed to be narrow and its outlet part where the ink column 20 is cut into ink droplets 21 to be jetted out is formed to be wide and open type. Such configuration of the charging electrode 22 compensates the lowness of field density at the inlet part, and it eventually and substantially equalizes the amount of charge for the distance of cutting. In other words, the amount of charge of ink droplets becomes constant at all times even if cutting distance varies inside the charging electrode, therefore a specified amount of deflection can be obtained and characters will be correctly printed at specified positions on a recording paper 27. Herein, 23 is a charge signal generator, 24a and 24b are deflection electrodes which deflect charged ink droplets, 25 is deflection power source and 26 is a gutter for collecting non-charged ink droplets. |
