The invention relates to a sinker for Jacquard machines, which consists of a piece of wire material, to the sinker top part of which the hook ends pointing in opposite directions are welded, the wire in the sinker bottom part being bent round and the two sinker legs being guided back above the sinker-guide portion in the sinker bottom, one sinker leg possessing a supporting nose, the sinker legs being arranged at a distance from one another underneath the supporting nose, and the sinker legs approaching one another at least at one point. The aim of the invention is to produce from wire a sinker which has a low production outlay and is operationally reliable and easy to maintain. The object on which the invention is based is to construct the sinker bottom part of a sinker from wire in such a way that, whilst ensuring a sufficient lateral elasticity, it allows an operationally reliable guidance of the sinker. According to the invention, the two sinker legs are connected firmly to one another in the approach region, and the approached portion extends below the sinker-guide portion near to the lower bending point.
