PURPOSE:To prevent a misfeeding of a ribbon and enhance the print quality while using a simple construction, by feeding an ink ribbon by using a rack-and- pinion mechanism, in a printer of a printing head moving system. CONSTITUTION:A rack 81 is provided on a back face of the printing head 8 fixed to a belt 9, while a pinion 10 fitted to a feeding roller 21 for the ribbon 2 through a unidirectional clutch (not shown) is engaged with the rack 81 (numeral 1 denotes a ribbon cassette). When a variable-rotational-direction motor 4 is driven, the head 8 is reciprocated through the belt 9 in accordance with the rotational direction of themotor 4 (numeral 41 denotes a driving shaft, while numeral 5 denotes a driven shaft). At the time of a forward movement of the head 8, the ribbon 2 remains stationary and printing is conducted by the head 8 being moved. At the time of a backward movement of the head 8, the unidirectional clutch is operated to rotate the feeding roller 21 through the rack 81 and the pinion 10, and the ribbon 2 is renewed by feeding it by a predetermined length. |
