PURPOSE:To prevent a disk from being flawed, by forming grooves having prescribed depth and width, respectively, extended in the lengthwise direction of a pair of floading surfaces, on these floating surfaces formed by extending in the flow direction of air in accordance with a magnetic medium. CONSTITUTION:On floating surfaces 2a, 2b of a head slider, grooves 22a, 22b are formed, respectively. As a result, lateral leakage of an air flow is increased, floating force is not generated in the part of these grooves 22a, 22b, and on only the split floating surface, the floating force is generated. Since the floating force is varied by cube of width dimensions of the floating surface, the floating force generated on the floating surface is reduced remarkably, and the extent of floating can also be reduced remarkably. In this way, it is possible to obtain a high performance product which has reduced head crush in case of start and stop, and is suitable for high density recording. |
