The invention relates to a three-roller bending press which can bend sheets or plates into cylindrical, conical or other desired shapes and has two lower rollers (2, 3) in a fixed position and an upper roller (1) which, in addition to vertical movements, can also be moved backwards and forwards when an oscillatory movement is required in order to bring the upper roller closer to one of the lower rollers and thereby form curved head ends on the sheets or plates to be bent. The upper roller (1) is articulated at both ends by means of hydraulic pistons (12) in such a way that it can be moved backwards and forwards with the aid of articulated linkages (14, 15) actuated by two further pairs of hydraulic pistons (19). This permits a reduction of the transverse stresses which act on the hydraulic pistons and the corresponding bearings during the forming of the head ends. <IMAGE>
