Compositions hitherto disclosed for hair growth usually have only a relatively short action so that it is necessary, to prevent further hair loss, to repeat the treatment at particular intervals of time. In order to make such disadvantageous subsequent treatments substantially superfluous and to make it possible for hairs which remain long to grow, the invention provides a composition for hair growth which consists of a first component for external use and of a second component for internal use. The first component is in the form of a liquid and is composed of the following ingredients, which are mixed together in the stated ratios by weight: a) 10 weight units of undiluted burdock root pressed juice, b) 45 weight units of undiluted stinging nettle pressed juice, c) 20 weight units of 17% strength ethyl alcohol as preservative, d) 25 weight units of water. The second component consists of a mixture of e) 90 weight units of dried stinging nettle leaves and f) 10 weight units of dried burdock leaves, the latter mixture being prepared as an infusion with water. The advantage of the composition for hair growth is that not only is there formation of the customary downy hairs which, experience has shown, are rapidly lost again but also that hair growth continues beyond the downy hairs and normal hair may develop.
