Differential pressure measurement apparatus with measurement position changeover capability

The proposed differential pressure measurement apparatus, with a measurement position changeover capability, is used for measuring differential pressures with very high precision over a measurement range of several powers of ten. A differential pressure measurement converter chain (3) is used for this purpose, consisting of several differential pressure measurement converters for different measurement ranges, from which a control electronics device selects the measurement converter which is most accurate for the applied differential pressure, and automatically connects it via solenoid valves. When this differential pressure measurement converter chain is being used, the differential pressure measurement converter (61) with the lowest measurement range is initially subjected to the applied pressure difference and its measured value is forwarded to the evaluation electronics device. If a specific predeterminable threshold is exceeded, the next higher differential pressure measurement converter is connected, while the first is vented to prevent damage from excess pressure. The changeover lasts until the differential pressure measurement converter with the suitable measurement range is connected. This differential pressure measurement converter chain (3) is particularly suitable in conjunction with a measurement position changeover system (2) which permits the optional connection of various measurement points to the differential pressure measurement converter chain. <IMAGE>
