In the case of an arrangement for switching off an electrical load as a function of the switching-on time, having a first temperature-dependent resistor (which has a positive temperature coefficient, can be switched on with the load, limits the load current or switches off in conjunction with the switching element), a second temperature-dependent resistor which has a positive temperature coefficient is thermally coupled to the first temperature-dependent resistor, and the second temperature-dependent resistor is connected in parallel with the load. In consequence, reliable protection of the load against excessively long switching on is ensured, with a slight reduction in the load power.
