PURPOSE:To perform the highly accurate measurement regardless of the amount of the intake air flow, by using a potentiometer having at least two sliding contact points, and decreasing relative errors and the like wherein the amount of the intake air flow is detected. CONSTITUTION:The output voltage of a sliding piece 18 is monitored by a comparator 26. When it is judged that the amount of the intake air flow is small and the rotary displacement of a measuring plate 10 is small, the output voltage of the sliding piece 18 is selected. Conversely, when the amount of the intake air flow is large, the output voltage of a sliding piece 20 is selected. Respective factors are multiplied to these output votages, and the final amount of the intake air flow is obtained. The voltages, whose full scale ratios with respect to the specified angle displacement of the measuring plate 10 are different and the voltage values themseleves are different, are generated at the sliding pieces 18 and 20. By selecting the output voltage of the sliding piece having the small relative error in this way, the amount of the intake air flow can be measured highly accurately. |
