The barrel of the hand-held firearm has a plurality of recesses which are arranged distributed uniformly on the circumference of the barrel, are machined into the barrel surface and run in the longitudinal direction of the weapon. The barrel is thus provided with a high level of reinforcement, so that barrel oscillations while firing are considerably reduced and the firing accuracy is thus improved.
