The adjuster comprises a screw element (17) axially movable by rotation. The element comprises a follower sleeve (16), coacting with a control member (20) actuating the sleeve rotation for axial displacement along the screw element. - The control member is a cover surrounding the screw element and contg. a toothed rim (21). The cover is coupled to the sleeve via a wedge-shaped shaft (22) and is rotatable w.r.t. a fixed holder (33') via a bearing (23). Thus only a torque is transmitted to the follower sleeve on rotation w.r.t. the screw element.
