A gas warning system having at least one gas detector, one gas sensor and one warning device which is controlled by a pulse emitted by the gas detector. The gas detector is electrically connected to an amplifier section of a radio, whose loudspeaker is connected as a warning device. Connected in front of the amplifier section is a powerful preamplifier, whose input is matched directly to the gas detector and its output levels.
