Novel welding power and gas supply system which includes a very high voltage power supply (74) coupled in parallel with a three-phase welding power supply (72). A control network (36, 82) is provided to permit the very high voltage auxiliary system (74) to be switched in and out of the welding circuit on a selective basis. A further control network (36, 54, 56, 58, 60) is provided for automatically delivering to a welding or cutting tool (38) the necessary gas or cooling fluids required for carrying out a particular type of welding or cutting operation. |
