PURPOSE:To enable to utilize a photoconductor of relatively low sensitivity for a sensor material and to improve the reading accuracy of a contact type image sensor by forming an illumination window at an interval of respective elements of meander type sensor units and reducing the thickness of a transparent protective layer. CONSTITUTION:This sensor has a sensor unit having a plurality of sensor elements such as 205a, 205b, 205c connected with connecting electrode forming a bit with three elements, illumination windows 261-263 provided at the intervals of the elements and a transparent protective layer 280. This layer 280 is formed thinly with an alumina film of 1/16-1/8 of the thickness of the conventional one, the dispersion of the reflected light is reduced and the reflected light is increased. Accordingly, peak reflecting lights 310-315 are uniformly emitted to the entire sensor unit region. Consequently, no irregularity is produced in the intensity of the received light by the 1-bit sensor unit, and the white and black picture elements of an original can be detected by the entire sensor unit region without irregularity. |
