PURPOSE: To provide a device and a method for moving parts accurately, positioning them, and assembling them. CONSTITUTION: A coil piston 106 around which an electric coil 102 is wound is slidably attached to a housing 22 so as to move in a magnetic field of a magnet 108. A bar body (grip part) 24 having a member for gripping a part is attached in such a way that it is transferred together with the coil piston 106. A connection member connects a drive motor with the grip part to give desired rotation to the grip part. When a current flows in the coil selectively, a coil piston 103 and the accompanying grip part 24 are moved in the magnetic field to position a part at a desired transfer position. Moreover, the drive motor is energized to move the grip part to a desired rotation position. A controller is built in an actuator to control the movement of the coil piston and the grip part at the time of parallel advance movement and rotary operation.
