PURPOSE:To suppress noise to be diffused to the circumference at a low-cost with a simple structure from a compressor through a front panel by so installing a control box on the front panel side as to shield a front surface of the compressor. CONSTITUTION:An interior of a housing 20 of an outdoor unit is vertically partitioned by a partition plate 21, a machine room 22 is formed under the plate 21, and a heat exchanger room 23 is formed above the plate 21. A laterally mounted compressor 24, a control box 31, etc., are mounted in the room 22, and the box 31 is so mounted over the entire front panel side of the room 22 as to shield the front surface of the compressor 24. Thus, at the time of driving the compressor 24, noise radiated from the compressor 24 and directed toward a front panel 20d is shield by the box 21. Accordingly, a sound insulator can be omitted or thinned. |
