In the recovery of environmental heat by flat heat exchangers, such as for example are mounted on roofs, the flat heat exchangers have to be made very big in order to provide sufficient heat in unfavourable weather conditions. In favourable weather conditions, such flat heat exchangers provide more heat than necessary and place excessive demand on the heat pump. According to the invention, the flat heat exchangers are made so small that, in particular in unfavourable weather conditions, they provide only a part of the required heat quantity and in addition air/water heat exchangers are used, which provide the differential quantity. In favourable weather conditions, the heat quantity provided by the flat heat exchangers can suffice and the air/water heat exchangers can remain out of operation.
