PURPOSE:To prepare the titled substance composed of cell walls exhibiting excellent antitumor activity, by disintegrating the cells of Streptoverticillium cinnamoneum dispersed in water or saline water, and removing the lipids and proteins from the supernatant liquid obtained by centrifugal separation. CONSTITUTION:The objective antitumor substance is composed of cell walls obtained by dispersing the cells of Streptoverticillium cinnamoneum in water or saline water, disintegrating the cells, centrifuging the dispersion at about 1,000G, and removing the lipids and proteins from the resultant supernatant liquid. The substance is peptido-glycan and composed of abount 40% amino acids (as total amino acid), about 14% hexosamine, about 5% total saccharides, about 2% proteins, and about 2% phosphorus. Since the bacterium is a kind of non-pathogenic actinomycetes, it can be handled easily and cultured rapidly, and is suitable for the industrial purpose. |
