PURPOSE:To provide a new UCH9 compound having excellent antibacterial and antineoplastic activity, thus useful as an antibacterial or antineoplastic agent. CONSTITUTION:The UCH9 compound of the formula or a salt thereof. This compound of the formula can be obtained by the following process: microbes which belong to Streptomyces and having ability to produce UCH9, e.g. Streptomyces sp. UCH9 strain (FERM BP-4392) is inoculated into and cultured in a seed medium, and the resultant culture fluid is transferred to a fermentative medium and cultured in the medium, and the aimed compound is isolated from the resultant culture fluid and then purified by conventional methods. |
