<p>This invention relates to a method for ascertaining for one or more targets information about the positions and velocities of the targets by using at least one transmitter and at least one receiver stationed at known relative positions in a medium having a known signal propagation velocity. Each transmitter transmits concurrently at least one component signal of known initial time consisting of at least two member signals, the time intervals between member signals being initially known. The concurrent component signals are separable. Each target reflects each component signal to each receiver. From each received signal the component signals are separated. From the component signals member signals reflected by each target are identified. For each identified member signal its transit time between transmitter and receiver, and the interval times between member signals of each component signal reflected by each target are measured. Target velocity components from each measured time interval are produced using the known initial time interval value. Each measured transit time in each component signal is corrected for determined relative motions between the transmitter, receiver and targets. The corrected transit time measurements in the component signals and the known signal propagation velocity are used to make target range determinations.</p> |
