PURPOSE:To exactly position a printer at its home position with a high accuracy without the use of any sensor by a method in which a carriage is stopped by a stopper and then set back by as much as a specified step number to a home position. CONSTITUTION:When a restoring command signal RS is sent out, a direction command signal DIV turns low, a drive signal DRV turns high, and a motor 2 sends a carriage 1 toward the direction of a home position P0. The carriage 1 is forced to stop when colliding on a stopper 3 at a position P1 exceeding the home position P0. The stopping state is detected after a fixed period of time Nms by the stoppage of rotation detection pulse CLK from a pulse encoder 4. Afterwards, to eliminate the loosening of a wire 7, the motor 2 is driven in a time limiting manner in the left direction for a short period of time Mms by a high-speed command signal V3 and then driven in the right direction by as much as a specified step number by a low-speed command signal V1, and the carriage 1 is positioned at the home position P0. |
