PURPOSE:To reinforce a weld by overhanging a can shell wall without being caught by other substance, by press-shaping an end edge of the weld and making it round when shaping a square cylindrical shell, and also placing the end edge on the same plane with a can shell outside wall. CONSTITUTION:A can shell material is formed so that the side is lozenge-shaped, end edge parts 1a, 1b of a can shell part are doubled and are press-welded by welding rollers 7, 8, and a can shell 1 is formed. Subsequently, it is shifted in the direction as indicated with an arrow 6, and to 3 corner parts of the can shell 1, 2 front and rear groups of each 1 pair of correcting rollers 11, 12 are made to pinch-contact, and also to a weld, 2 front and rear groups of each 1 pair of correcting rollers 2, 3 are made to pinch-contact by pressure. The correcting rollers 11, 12 shape the can shell 1 to a regular square for the most part, also the correcting rollers 2, 3 shape it to a regular square and simultaneously molde each end edge 4, 4a of the welds 1a, 1b roundly, press the cut end edge against the can shell material side, also a part of the can shell outside wall is overhanged so that the cut end edge 4a and the can shell outside wall are on the same plane, and a projecting part 5 is formed. |
