<p>1432605 Edge connectors BUNKER RAMO CORP 7 May 1973 [5 May 1972] 21653/73 Heading H2E A socket suitable for receiving the edge of a circuit board comprises an insulating body 10 with a channel 14 extending from a front face 19 into the body, the sides 16, 17 of the channel having spaced cavities 30 each containing a respective contact 31, the latter each comprising a terminal portion 38, a mounting portion 39 fixed in the cavity, and a slotted, 52, loop, 50, engagement portion (42) comprising leaf spring portions 44A, 44B and 46A, 46B interconnected at 45, a bowed portion 48A, 48B adapted to engage the edge of the board, and a free-ended tip 49A, 49B. The diallyl phthalate body has apertured, 27, 28, end portions 21, 22 for mounting on a support and the sides 16, 17 are bevelled for guiding the circuit board on entry. Each cavity includes a small cross-section portion 33 holding the mounting portion 39 of the respective contact which is crimped at 54 to secure the contact in the body, and a cavity portion 32 which is spaced from the leaf spring portions 44A, 44B to accommodate flexing of the contact. The terminal and mounting portions 38, 39 of the contacts are of thicker gauge than the engagement portion and the tips 49 resiliently bear against internal side surfaces 37 of a bottom wall 18 of the body.</p> |
