PURPOSE:To improve the contacting of a tape by setting the center of a recording and reproducing head below the center of a cassette half even when a head base where an erasing head and the recording and reproducing head are fitted is rotated according to the forward and backward running direction of the tape. CONSTITUTION:When a forward and a backward playback button are pressed at the same time, a head slider, a reverse driving lever, and a lock lever cooperate with one another to move a left and a right playback slider in the same direction, and either slider, e.g. the right playback slider enters a deep part to perform forward reproduction. Once a tape end is detected, the head slider moves back temporarily and enters again, and the left and right sliders are switched to perform backward reproduction. At the same time, a control slider and a driving slider move to left and right at right angles to the head sliders according to the playback directions, and thus a head base 33 is rotated by half around a shaft 39 through gears 37 and 36 to invert the order of an erasing head 32 and a recording and reproducing head 14. The center of the recording and reproducing head 14 is positioned below the center of a cassette half to perform automatic inversion with secure contacting. |
