PURPOSE:To contrive to improve the condensation efficiency of turbine condenser or the like by a structure wherein a vacant space without cooling tubes is formed with partition plates so as to communicate to an outlet of uncondensed steam at the location somewhat below the center of cooling tube bank and away obliquely downwards from an inlet of steam. CONSTITUTION:Steam is flowed horizontally from the inlet 3 into a shell and past in the cooling tube bank 2 along the stream lines as indicated with the solid lines with arrow heads d, e and f and condensed and exhausted from an outlet 5. Non-condensable gas such as air and the like and uncondensed steam are collected temporarily in the vacant space 7 and, after that, discharged through a passage divided with the partition plates 8a and 8b from the outlet 4 of uncondensed steam to the outside of the shell. Because the pressure losses between the inlet 3 of steam and the vacant space 7 along the respective stream lines d-f can be equal to one another by arranging the vacant space 7 at the location diagonally somewhat below the center of the cooling tube bank 2 and away obliquely downwards from the inlet 3 of steam and the suction pressure of the outlet 4 is applied uniformly to the whole periphery of the vacant space 7, the steam is discharged uniformly from the whole periphery of the cooling tube bank 2, resulting in improvement of the condensation efficiency of the apparatus. |
