PURPOSE:To feed the cooling water of a feed-water source to a runner seal section for sure without interfering with constituting members of a water wheel during an idle operation by fixing a guide-water pipe to the under cover of the runner and also fixing a feed-water main pipe. CONSTITUTION:A coupling pipe 33 passes between lower bearings 34, 34 adjoining not to interfere with each other for the lower stem 10b of a movable guide vane 10. For a condenser operation or a reserve operation, the compressed air is fed under pressure into a runner chamber with an inlet valve and the guide vane 10 fully closed, and the water surface in the runner chamber is lowered to the point below a low pressure stage runner 3. Prior to an idle operation, when the cooling water is fed from a feed-water main pipe 32 into a guide-water pipe 30 through a coupling pipe 33, the cooling water is fed into a feed-water groove 25, then into the runner seal section through coupling holes 28, 29. |
