PURPOSE:To make the recognition of a drawing easy, by discriminating a character from a line and making recognition through the separation of the character and line of drawing information, through taking notice that the size of the character is generally smaller than that of line. CONSTITUTION:An input device inputting drawing information to be recognized and a pickup device 12 detecting the start point of a pattern from the drawing information of the device 10 and picking up an area of connection of the pattern from the detected start point, are provided. A measuring device measuring two-dimensional extent of a picked-up area, a discriminator discriminating whether the pattern of the area is a line or a character, and devices 13 and 14 recognizing the character and the line separated depending on the discrimination result are provided. |
