Padded moulding strip - has body integrally bonded to foam pad at interface to give one piece construction from thermoplastic materials

A composite plastics strip comprises a body strip having a planar surface to which is bonded without adhesive a foamed plastics padding strip. The free surface of the padding strip carries an adhesive covered by a release sheet. The strip is made by forcing body material from a first extruder through a first die passage and impinging at right angles onto the material as it passes through the first passage the material of the padding strip from a second extruder oriented at right angles to the first. The padding strip is bonded without the use of adhesive to the body strip. The strip is of particular use as an automobile side body moulding.
