PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic receptor having high adhesive strength and endurance and undergoing no deterioration in the electrophotographic characteristics by pre-exposure by interposing a layer of carboxymethylcellulosic acid between the electrically conductive support and the photoconductive layer of the receptor. CONSTITUTION:As the electrically conductive support and the photoconductive layer a known support and a known layer are used. Carboxymethylcellulosic acid (CMC acid) represented by the formula (where x=10-100,000) is insoluble in water but soluble in ammonia, ethylenediamine, diethanolamine or the like, so when CMC acid is converted into ammonium salt or amine salt by treatment with said compound, it is made soluble in water. An aqueous soln. of ammonium salt or amine salt of CMC acid is applied to an electrically conductive support and dried. Ammonia or amine is evaporated, and the salt is converted into CMC acid again to form a water insoluble intermediate layer with high adhesive strength. The photoconductive layer is formed on the intermediate layer by an ordinary method. |
