PURPOSE: To extend the range of driving voltage and to boost the voltage by impressing the same pluselike voltage as that of a no-data period in the initial partial, period of an address state independently of the existence of data. CONSTITUTION: An OFF mode pulse is impressed in the initial partial period C such as 1-B, 1-C of an address state in one scanning period H independently of the existence of data. Since the same pulse is impressed to all data side electrodes, influence due to stray capacity among the data side electrodes can be neglected and differences between the output of a driving circuit and an waveform and voltage on the tip parts of the electrodes can be reduced. Since all discharge cells stop discharging in the period C, the gathering of discharge from adjacent cells can be removed. Namely mislighting voltage on display is boosted. Consequently driving voltage can be extended at its range and boosted. |
