<p>NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formlaI(m is an integer 4-10; n is an integer 5-11; m+n is 11-7; and has the distribution with an apex of m=7 and n=8). EXAMPLE:2-Hydroxy-3-isostearoxypropylglyceryl ether. USE:A fine emulsifying agent of the emulsifying cosmetics, having improved gloss and emulsion stability, and useful as cosmetics, e.g. a cream or milky lotion having the good feeling of use. PROCESS:A glycidyl ether expressed by formula II (R is formula III) is subjected to the addition reaction with a glycerol expressed by formula IV (R1 and R2 are H, lower alkyl, aryl or arallyl) in which the OH groups at the 2-and 3-positions are protected by a suitable protecting group to form a 1,3-dioxolane compound, which is then hydrolyzed to afford the compound expressed by formulaIin high yield and purity with ease.</p> |
