PURPOSE:To operate extraction of square root with a small capacity of Read Only Memory (ROM) by converting the 1st and the 2nd digital variable into a mantissa part and an index part respectively with which operate extraction of square root. CONSTITUTION:ROM 1 and 2 convert the 1st and the 2nd digital variable X and Y into mantissa parts (x) and (y) and index parts (m) and (n) respectively. ROM 3 outputs corresponding data P by inputting outputs (x) and (y) of the ROM 1 and 2, respectively, ROM 4 outputs corresponding data Q and R by inputting the outputs (x) and (y) of the ROM 1 and 2, and the output P of the ROM 3 respectively. ROM 5 outputs corresponding data S and T by inputting the output (x) of the ROM 1 and the output Q of the ROM 4, respectively. An addor 6 adds the output T of the ROM 5 and the output R of the ROM 4, and outputs an added value (u). The data S is a mantissa part the result of operation for (X<2>+ Y<2>)<1/2>, and the data (u) is an index part of the result of operation for (X<2>+Y<2>). |
