PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily assemble a pivot member by slide-releasably engaging it with a mount from the direction nearly perpendicular to the axis when it is located at the assembly allowable angle position, and unreleasably and pivotally engaging it with the mount when it is located at the gear shift position. SOLUTION: A rod section contains a flat side face matched with an insertion section 25 when it is located at the assembly allowable angle position A, and the flat side face is not matched when a shift lever 22 is pivotally fitted around a rotary shaft R1 from the assembly allowable angle position A to one of multiple gear positions. A brake is fitted to the shift lever 22, and it is engaged with a notched opening section in a return stop plate on a base section 21 to prevent the shift lever 22 from being moved to the assembly allowable angle position A. A pivot member 26 is preferably integrally formed as a portion of the shift lever 22, and it can be fitted to the shift lever 22 without using a separate fixing tool.
